What is the Pines Foundation?

The Pines Foundation is an offshoot of PINES. Our goals are simple. To support the social and emotional wellbeing of children, teenagers and adults struggling with illness, social barriers, restricting conditions and disability. We are passionate about raising awareness of disability and mental health, whilst supporting each corner of the community.

Projects

(Click on each project to find out more).

We are working with a number of schools and volunteers across the city to ensure there is educational and social opportunities for the many families and individual relocating to Warsaw from Ukraine. By donating a classroom and/ or volunteering teachers you will be ensuring some continuity of study and education. These sessions, workshops and lessons will also provide the many parents and guardians a well needed break. A number of schools will also be providing adult language courses.

Communicate workshops +

Sign language is a brilliant tool that will help bridge the communication gap that might exist when there is a hearing impairment and even in situations where there is no hearing impairment present. Learning sign language is an invaluable tool for communication. Working closely with established charities and foundations. Pines will invite Practitioners from schools around Poland to learn basic sign language which in return will allow them to champion additional forms of communication in their own settings.

Family weekend events +

As often as possible we have been delivering family workshops/ picnics for up to 70 guests at a time. This is a chance for the children to play, laugh and learn as well as give the parents a much needed break.

Forest School projects +

Our projects run throughout the year and consist of six sessions. Each one of our sessions last between 3-4 hours, in that time the children have the freedom of our Forest to play, learn, create and adventure. Free to all participates, we also hope to employ a Ukrainian teacher to support our sessions.

Employment opportunities and continued study +

We have been inundated with CV’s and requests for employment. Unfortunately, as much as it pains us we are unable to currently offer any full time roles. Additionally we are concerned that the educational needs of the Ukrainian children we have invited to join Pines Primary aren’t being met (all Ukrainian children come to school without any costs).

As a result we have decided to fund raise to support the employment of a Ukrainian teacher. This will enable us to offer full time employment for the remainder of the school year as well as support the learning and development of our Ukrainian guests within their curriculum.

Visually impaired Sensory Forest School +

Led by Pines Forest School, our sensory sessions will enable visually impaired children and teenagers to discover the natural world around them using touch, smell, sound and taste. From learning about flora and fauna, tools and fire, too relaxing in a hammock. The natural world should never exclusive.

Forest School for all +

Similarly to our sensory sessions, our ‘Forest School for all’ Projects will bring together a variety of individuals whom in the past might have struggled to access sessions. From physical disabilities, to economical and social barriers. This set of project will go to great lengths to ensure every barrier its broken down. Spilt into smaller projects, focusing on the individual needs of each group. We are especially passionate about supporting adult with disabilities, particularly as historically funding for extra curricular activities demissions beyond the age of twenty two. Which as a result leaves a huge gap in the lives of disabled individuals.

Forms of this project:

  • Adult Sensory
  • Young person sensory
  • Young children sensory experience Physical access
  • Displaced persons group

Medical supplies for transport into Ukraine +

Since the war in Ukraine started we have been working tirelessly to help and support the families and individuals who have taken refuge in our city. We recognise the the importance of long term support for the families and individuals who have been forced to set up a new life in a foreign land. Below you can find some of our current projects. All money raised will go directly to support the victims of this terrible war.

Adult nature strolls +

A twelve-week project led by the renowned Łukasz Tulej. Łukasz will lead a group of adults struggling with anxiety, depression and various mental health on nature strolls through the beautiful Forests Warsaw has to offer. These three hour walks will give his group a chance to relax, talk openly, connect with others and re-establish a bond with nature. An invisible illness, which is so often overlooked and ignored. This project will empower those involved to discard the sigma attached to mental health and learn from each other.
