Pines Primary
Bespoke learning opportunities
At Pines Primary, we are proud to be a Forest School that blends the Polish and British curricula into a rich, balanced, and inspiring learning journey. In our lower primary years, the emphasis is placed on the British learning goals, while children continue to build a strong foundation in the Polish curriculum. As learners progress into Year 6 / Polish Grade 5, the focus gradually shifts, allowing them to engage more deeply with the Polish curriculum while still benefiting from the breadth of the British approach.
Our ethos is rooted in the belief that risk-taking, independence, and child-led exploration are essential for the healthy growth and development of young people. We believe that education should inspire curiosity and confidence, rather than confining children to long hours at a desk. While we are not a fully democratic school, we ensure that the time spent in more structured, classroom-based learning is meaningful, purposeful, and engaging.
At the heart of our practice lies the principle of community. We place great importance on nurturing strong relationships - between children, educators, families, and the natural world. Learning is holistic and deeply connected to real-life experiences, guiding children to become knowledgeable, creative, independent, resilient, and compassionate individuals who care for themselves, others, and their environment.
Our core curriculum is inspired by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), British curriculum learning goals, and Polish curriculum learning goals. It is delivered in an inclusive, safe, and stimulating environment, where every child’s individual needs, learning style, and interests are respected and woven into the learning journey.
The school day runs from 9:00 – 15:30, with teaching delivered primarily in small groups to ensure children receive the attention and support they need. As pupils move through the school, they gradually experience a greater number of structured lessons and subject inputs. Our blended curriculum allows children to grow with flexibility—equipping them to transition confidently into international schools, Polish schools, or other educational settings should their journey take them there.
Learning HUBs
Our Learning HUBs open out onto the beauty of the surrounding forest, offering children an inspiring space to learn, explore, and grow. Just forty minutes from the centre of Warsaw, the Pines Learning HUBs provide the perfect environment for children to discover a genuine love of learning.
Designed specifically for our school, the HUBs are modern, fully equipped learning spaces that function as bright and welcoming classrooms. Each HUB includes kitchenettes, toilets, and showers, ensuring comfort and practicality throughout the day.
Beyond the HUBs, children have access to a rich natural environment and dedicated learning zones: a tool-use area, diverse wildlife habitats, a pond and stream, as well as a garden with raised beds for plants and herbs. All of this is set within the heart of a beautiful, historic forest, creating a truly unique setting where education comes alive.
Core curriculum
Pines Primary represents a unique approach to education - a place where children can grow, explore, and develop a lifelong love of learning. We deliver a core British curriculum that includes literacy, mathematics, history, geography, science, and phonics, but we do so in a child-centred, Scandinavian-inspired style. Alongside this, children also follow the Polish curriculum, ensuring they build strong foundations in both systems and are well prepared for future educational pathways.
Our lessons are taught in small peer groups, with session lengths tailored to the needs of each activity and learner. Learning takes place both inside our bespoke Learning HUBs and outdoors in our beautiful old forest, where practical, hands-on experiences bring subjects to life and make knowledge truly meaningful.
Throughout the day, children also enjoy a wide variety of enrichment activities such as art and design, woodwork, music, sport, cooking, and photography. These experiences nurture creativity, independence, and a sense of joy in discovery.
At Pines Primary, we do not believe in filling every moment with rigid tasks. Instead, we value the importance of learning through play, recognising it as a vital part of children’s development. We aim to raise learners who are brave, resilient, confident, creative, adaptable, and above all, happy. We celebrate individuality rather than placing children into boxes, strengthening their unique qualities and supporting them as they grow.
Our goal is to create a strong foundation for lifelong learning. We want our pupils to enjoy learning, to celebrate it, and to see it as a natural part of who they are. At Pines Primary, learning happens as much in the forest and through play as it does behind a desk. This balance requires time, patience, and trust, and it is at the heart of everything we do.
