Day 19

Hello one and all!

It is now day 19 of our closure, and I am not sure about you but we feel like we're going a little insane. I wanted to share with you some of the activities and tasks that have kept us busy during this time.

Living on the other side of the city to most of you I haven't had the opportunity to visit Kabaty Forest recently and have steered clear of Kampinos after hearing about the increased foot traffic. I have however walked my block and neighbourhood countless time to keep myself and my  dog from completely losing the plot. Jogging when able.

My daily conversations with family and friends (more so now than ever before) has been a welcome time filler and a good reminder that this situation goes beyond our four walls. We have found apps such as ZOOM and HOUSEPARTY work particularly well. We have run 'pub quizzes', film nights and general chats. This is a good chance to get in touch with friends and family you haven't had time for!

The irony of the lockdown is of course the weather. As a result we've spent most of our time on the balcony, replanting, upgrading furniture and sanding down/ painting pallets ready for a new balcony sofa. Leroy Merlin in Arkadia is still running an order and pick up from the parking service, which works particularly well and lets you avoid coming into contact with anyone.

Working from home and homeschooling. Most of you will now be having to combine home office, keeping your business afloat and conference calls as well as supporting your children's home schoolings. With friends and family on both sides of this situation I can promise you that everyone is feeling the same level of frustration. Teachers are now being asked to teach lessons, upload activities and assess progress in a way they have never done before, on systems that are completely new and untested. As for parents, you are being expected to go above and beyond for your companies whilst having to listen to baby shark on repeat. Our advice is to do what you can, don't go insane trying to complete every activity. Try and stick to some kind of routine, be calm and don't feel guilty about your children's education. Everyone is in the same boat. Online workouts and yoga videos are a great way to start your children's day.

Online PE lessons

Small business. A lot of small businesses are now under huge pressure to stay afloat during this difficult time, many are now offering vouchers for future services. If you are in a position to do so, buying into these systems may keep your favorite coffee shop or barber open. Lot of farms are also now offering very cheap vegetables and fruits, many with cheap delivery. Again, buying from these people will support your local community.

Finally, we are of course in a very strange time, lots of us out of work, lots of us on the edge. Be kind, be calm and look after yourself. The Pines team is available to support the elderly and at risk in our community. If you have family members, friends or know of anyone who needs essential good delivered, please contact us and we will do our very best.

Warm regards,

Saul
